We’ve crunched the numbers and now it’s time to share some consumer insights on UK Home Design. This is not an opinion piece or a topic on trends but an insight into our 1,000 plus room designs, including 10,000’s of products from our little black book of a range of UK suppliers. This is what our consumers are really buying, and why.
So, instead of telling you what ‘experts’ think is hot on the market, we’re sharing exactly what you actually shopped for and what that says about all of us right now.
From our analysis, we have rounded up the “Hall of Fame” items: the pieces our clients obsessed over, bought, and loved the most this year.

The 3 key takeaways
- The Spending Mindset: “Cautious Investment”
We’ve noticed a pattern: our consumers don’t dabble. They pick a room, and commit. By breaking the home into bite-sized chapters, they’re shopping with serious intent rather than browsing aimlessly.
- The Aesthetic: “Practical Luxury”
Our clients are officially breaking up with “fast furniture.” The focus this year was Intelligent Spending: finding those “forever pieces” that survive a style refresh and keep the budget in check. We’re seeing a massive shift toward practicality because a sofa needs to survive real life. This isn’t a show room you’re making – your house is a home and meant to be lived in.
- The Long-Term Lens: “Designing for Real Life”
Whether you’re upgrading your forever home or strictly budgeting to stamp your personality on a new place (like the 38% of you who renovate immediately after moving), the goal is the same: instant sanctuary. You want your house to feel like yours, room by room.

Sofas

One of the best things about our shopping service is, with big purchases like sofas, our talented designers hunt for the one.
In terms of key design trends, we are seeing a distinct shift towards rich, earthy tones, with Slate, Juniper, and Umber dominating the palette, though soft neutrals like Chantilly remain a timeless designer staple.
Functionality is just as crucial as style, evidenced by the high demand for durable performance fabrics such as Aquaclean and House Velvet.
While 2-seat, 3-seat, and modular units continue to be the most popular configurations, sofa beds are appearing repeatedly as essential space-saving, multipurpose solutions for modern living. The living room is one of most popular room designs by clients at 20%.

Armchairs

Armchairs have evolved into true statement pieces, with homeowners showing a greater willingness to make bold, distinctive design decisions for these standalone items compared to larger furniture.
Due to the demand for statement pieces within this category shoppers are treating them less like seating and more like the loud, funky earrings of the furniture world.

Beds

The bedroom has become a stronghold of consistency. The dominance of neutrals provides a predictable, low-risk aesthetic foundation, while the heavy focus on storage and compact sizing reveals a highly practical customer.
Homeowners are officially elevating the ‘Spare Room’. The specific demand for high-quality single and small double frames shows that clients are no longer treating guest rooms as afterthoughts. They are actively curating these spaces with the same visual calm (neutrals) and clever utility (storage) as the master suite, proving that size is no barrier to style.

Dining Tables

Unlike other categories, designers are selecting a broad variety of styles when it comes to dining tables.
Designers are actively refusing to ‘play it safe’ in this category, showing a clear hunger for variety over standard repeats. This is a green light for creativity. It proves the market is ready and waiting for unique, space-saving solutions and standout pieces that break the mold.

Lighting

We have cracked the code on Lighting. The high volume of repeats signals that we have successfully identified the ‘Perfect Product Market Fit’ – a core range so strong that it has become the default choice for our design team.
Materially, brass and ceramic textures remain strong, while white stoneware and ribbed textures are seeing significant success.
Overall, neutral lighting solutions that layer seamlessly across diverse schemes continue to perform best.

Rugs

Washable rugs are seeing increasing popularity, reflecting a growing demand for practical durability.
Aesthetically, the category is dominated by neutrals – specifically creams, beiges, and charcoal – with wool and highly textured varieties emerging as standout choices.
In terms of scale, large sizes (typically 200×300) remain the strongest performers, particularly for anchoring living room schemes.
The number one mistake we see? Undersized rugs. Scaling up doesn’t just fill floor space. It anchors the entire room, creating a sense of cohesion and luxury that a small rug simply can’t match. If you’re struggling with a tricky floor plan, let us handle it; our design team specialises in solving complex layout puzzles to ensure the perfect fit.

Luxury that Lasts
But how do we get that look? The devil is in the details. Think texture, warm accents and calm colours. The minimalism still exists but it’s stark, eye-catching and subtly changes the mood of the room with the small detailed touch ups.
In Quote box: Demand for high-durability fabrics is dominating upholstery sales. Clients want luxury looks that can survive real life.
Real Room Designs
- Dark, Moody Office

(Image Credit – My Bespoke Room)
Clients are abandoning sterile white offices for deeper, darker tonesnavy, forest green, charcoal -to aid concentration and separate “work” from “home.”
The key to this room is the textured wall paper and the moody forest green. It’s simple but fully pulls the room together to provide a grounded and professional feel for our home office workers.
2. Calm, Neutral Bedroom

(Image Credit – My Bespoke Room)
The priority here is calm. Palettes remain predominantly warm neutrals (creams, oatmeal, soft earth tones) rather than cool greys to promote rest.
The tactical use of the warm creamy neutral is a strategic styling choice, which takes away from the harsh whites and greys but keeps the room minimalist and chic.
3. The Kitchen Statement Island

(Image Credit – My Bespoke Room)
We are steering away from bold, allover colour. The trend is now neutral main cabinetry, punctuated by a dramatic, dark island to ground the scheme.
This look really screams quiet luxury as it draws the attention to the centre, creating a sophisticated focal point that adds moody depth without darkening the overall space.
