Laura’s outdoor kitchen

Requests for outdoor kitchens went through the roof in 2021. It seemed that without being able to go on holiday, we decided to bring the holiday vibes to our homes! Outdoor kitchens are no flash in the pan trend though – after all, why should you have to slave away indoors cooking while your guests are sunning themselves outside?
Our co-founder Laura created the outdoor kitchen of her dreams complete with prep space, gas BBQ and even a fancy ceramic egg smoker!

She even cleverly fitted in a bench seat so her girls can keep her company while she cooks. It also doubles up as concealed storage for outdoor cushions and cooking equipment over the winter months.

Nearby is the outdoor dining space which has enough space to sit the entire neighbourhood, should they be so inclined! Here’s Laura and designer Claire testing it out for us…

Lucy’s courtyard garden

If you’ve already checked out Lucy, our Head of Design’s home (and if you haven’t you must here) then you’ll remember that the plot was a small, challenging one that left them little room for garden space.
Lucy and her courtyard garden prove that you don’t need to have acres of land to have a stunning outdoor space. This one works beautifully over the summer months as an extension to their kitchen, blurring the lines between inside and out and making it perfect for garden parties!

Think you need grass? Think again. For Lucy, the thought of forever mowing a lawn was a hard ‘no’ so she opted for this incredible artificial grass. No maintenance is needed… except she does run the hoover over it every now and then.

Diana’s al fresco diner

Last but not least we invite you into co-founder Diana’s outdoor dining space in her South London home. The challenge with this outdoor space was to create as much privacy as possible – a common problem in city gardens!

We often talk a lot about zoning in open plan spaces and with gardens, it’s no different. This corner bench seat works beautifully as a way to break up this long, narrow garden into different zones. This zone is very much an adult space for dining while the rest is for her boys to play as many sports as they desire!
The bench was also deliberately built lower down so that it feels more intimate. Our favourite part is that it also doubles up as a planter which works beautifully by cocooning you in nature and acting as a natural screen.
