Contemporary Snug Room Design: Warm Grey, Blush & Deep Blue
Published
Warm grey, blush pink and deep blue create a cosy, contemporary palette for this relaxed family snug. Neutral walls and herringbone flooring keep the room calm and grounded, while brass, black accents and contrasting woods bring structure and character.
Designed as a comfortable TV room for the whole family, the scheme combines soft seating with practical performance fabrics, rounded furniture and generous storage. A dramatic fireplace wall forms the focal point, with built-in shelving, concealed game storage and carefully layered lighting creating a space that feels both stylish and easy to live with.
Creating a stylish, child-friendly space with practical storage
The brief
Create a cosy, contemporary snug that feels relaxed and practical for family life.
Use a neutral foundation with blush pink, deep blue and softer brown tones for warmth and contrast.
Make the fireplace wall the main focal point with bespoke shelving, storage, and a large TV.
Choose durable, child-friendly furniture and upholstery that is easy to maintain.
Introduce rounded forms, natural textures and soft lighting to balance the room's sharper architectural lines.
Create additional seating around the bay window without making the room feel overcrowded.
The result
The main seating area pairs a dark grey three-seater sofa with a blush pink sofa, neutral ottoman and softer occasional seating. Performance fabrics, rounded furniture and supportive foam-filled cushions make the space practical for family life, while a rattan ceiling light, patterned rug and arched floor lamp add warmth and texture.
The fireplace wall is treated as the room's focal point, using a deep blue finish to frame the existing fireplace, large television and bespoke built-in shelving. Closed storage below keeps games hidden away, while books, family photographs and accessories personalise the open shelves. In the bay window, two neutral armchairs, and a brass-detailed side table create a quieter secondary seating area.
