Seena and Sandeep Living, Dining and Kitchen Room
Designer's Edit
This vibrant triple-function room includes a cozy living area, a dining space, and a well-integrated kitchen. The living area features a light travertine coffee table with a unique conical base, paired with a soft beige sofa adorned with plush, colorful cushions in burnt orange and air force blue. Two elegant blue chairs frame the sofa, enhancing the room's modern aesthetic. A warm accent, such as a floor lamp with a matte black finish, adds depth and mood lighting.
On the walls, a calming art piece brings character, complemented by a sleek wall-mounted shelf displaying decorative items. Natural light floods the space through large windows, highlighting the light and airy atmosphere. The dining area is anchored by a beautiful black and natural acacia wood table, surrounded by stylish seating options. Decorative rugs, flatwoven for practicality, ground the space and define each area without obstructing foot traffic.
The kitchen is seamlessly integrated with practical and decorative elements, offering ample storage with sleek cabinetry. Smart wall-mounted furniture adds both functionality and aesthetic, with careful consideration for weight support according to wall material. Throughout the room, the designer has carefully selected plants and planters to breathe life into the design, ensuring harmony between all elements. Radiators are kept in their existing locations to maintain layout integrity, with modern alternatives suggested for reference.
Overall, the space is expertly designed to suit both relaxation and entertainment, accommodating family gatherings and everyday living alike.
Hi Seena and Sandeep,
I’m delighted to share your final room design and product suggestions. Don’t forget to click on the video under your moodboard to watch your virtual design presentation!
Product Suggestions:
If you scroll down from your design you will find your product list with all my recommended items. If you click on "alternatives," you'll find even more options for each category. There’s a favourites button on each product, so feel free to click it! That way, we can chat about your top picks since I’ll be able to see which ones you like best as does your shopper Jess!
I have specified all items based on the dimensions and information you provided in your brief but it’s always worth double checking that you’re happy with the size of larger furniture items/light fittings before placing your order. Also that you have the appropriate delivery access into your property.
As the floor plan has been put together with your given dimensions, it is always best to double check you are happy with the sizing before placing an orders.
Sofa cover:
I suggest once you have ordered the paint samples and made a final decision, to then choose the cover for the sofa. This should ideally be one shade lighter than the wall as seen in the design.
Rugs
As discussed, before I have made sure to have these rugs washable or at least easy to clean. Also, I have kept in mind these to be flatwoven, so they don’t obstruct the door opening, but once changing the flooring please speak with your contractor. I am presenting traditional patterns, but I have added modern version in the design as well.
For the dining room the ideal size for the 180cm table is 185 x 275 cm. If you decide for bigger tables (220cm) rugs can be 245 x 305 cm.
Cushions:
Certain retailers supply cushion cover only and it will state this in the title of the item so if you need the inner cushion don't forget to add that to your basket as a separate item.
Paint:
I have included some great paint color suggestions for your room design with handy links so you can order any samples you want and then your chosen paint directly from the retailer when you are ready. It’s always best to use the retailer's paint calculator, or your decorator's estimate for paint quantity.
If there are any Coat paint colors, you love you can use this exclusive discount code to save 20% on any paint purchased directly with Coat CCMBR20
The paints are in the shopping basket, and I wood highly suggest ordering samples and try on the walls (stick and peel samples). Below are my suggestions:
Living and dining area all walls: COAT Modest (with alternatives: COAT Good Intentions, Ambrose, Mindful, Margo). Piano room accent paint: COAT Sunday Soul (with alternatives: COAT Good Intentions and Ambrose). Kitchen all walls: COAT Nada (with alternatives: COAT Safe Play, Pampas).
Window Dressing:
I have included some great options for made-to-measure curtains and blinds. All window dressing needs to be ordered in the correct size for your window(s) - to do this simply click the link on the window dressing suggestions, enter the size and you can place the order directly with the retailer.
For the piano room I am suggesting a double pinch style of curtains, In a blue cotton fabric.
For the kitchen blinds, I am suggesting a roman blind in a cotton fabric with a small stripe to bring the blues into this room.
Wall Mounted Furniture & Shelving :
As per agreed layout, I have included some great wall mounted furniture/shelving options in your room. Please note that different wall materials require different types of fixing devices. It is important to use suitable fixing devices for the walls in your home and also to ensure your walls construction can support the weight. If you are uncertain about what type of fixing devices to use or whether the wall construction is suitable, please contact your local hardware store or your contractor.
Regarding the TV unit I have added some smaller options width wise that can match with a shelving unit.
In the kitchen I am presetting a shelf to run all the way along the existing cabinets on the RHS (when looking at the window). We discussed closed storage, but after seeing your worktop finish and working some design, I believe to be tricky to come with a wood colour that works along whilst keep the room balanced. A single shelf in a dark wood or the same material you already have in the kitchen worktop extension (I can see in the photos) works better. Add some frames on the side of the wall and play with the heights available to balance this wall.
If you want to add close storage, I advise for same cabinet styles and finish as existing.
Plants:
I have included a great selection of real and/or faux plants for your room with some lovely planter options also. Please be sure to check the size of the planter or basket fits the plant pot of the plant you have chosen if you select an option from the alternatives! You can purchase the real plants through our shopping service if you wish or you can use this as a style guide and source them from a local garden centre.
Art:
I have suggested some great pieces of artwork that I believe will pull together your scheme beautifully. However, art is such a personal choice, so do feel free to use these options as a guide if the pieces I’ve suggested don’t quite hit the mark!
I have suggested art for above the sofa, for the kitchen above the radiator, and for the piano room. The existing artwork in the dining room wall where the triple door is I would suggest to keep as it goes well with the scheme.
Family Pictures:
I have suggested some areas for the family pictures big format. I suggest you can have your picture frames display in no more than a 160 width x 100 height area.
Radiators
You can keep the radiators as they are if you wish, as design wise, I really could not advise a better place with the layout we have chosen. I have added a modern version though both in the shopping and in the design presentation for your reference – Would keep all the same sizes, apart from the dining area which would make it smaller (about 120cm wide) and centered with the sideboard on the opposite wall).
Flooring
As per your request I am presenting options for luxury looking vinyl planks. I highly advice to order the samples or other similar that your contractor may advice, but the important thing to keep in mind is for the floor not to be too dark as the majority of the furniture is dark wood.
Budget Notes:
The overall room design has been pulled together with your budget in mind, however I have also dropped in a few special pieces that you may want to invest in, as I believe this could bring an additional wow factor! Have a good look through all the alternatives and remember you can swap things around to balance your budget as you like.
Once you’ve had the time to digest the design, please let me know if you have any questions. As a reminder, you have two weeks to come back to me with any questions on the design.
Many thanks and speak soon.
Best, Sara
